Kylie Minogue stunned at the Met Gala in New York on Monday. The Australian pop star, 55, embodied a twist on the event's theme, 'Sleeping Beauties', looking regal in a transparent devoré denim knit gown. But while the denim elements gave the Padam Padam hitmaker a modern edge, Kylie's dress honoured the spirit of fairytale princesses with thousands of micro crystals stitched into fabric. The ensemble, designed by fashion brand Diesel's creative director Glenn Martens, glittered as the cameras flashed. Speaking to Vogue earlier, Martens said: 'It's meant to look as though Kylie has been sleeping in this dress for hundreds of years. Leaving parts of the fabric dissolved around her body's contours.' The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute's permanent collection - with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again. Speaking to Vogue earlier, Martens said: 'It's meant to look as though Kylie has been sleeping in this dress for hundreds of years. Leaving parts of the fabric dissolved around her body's contours' The pieces will all be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky. 'It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,' said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, of the upcoming exhibition. 'One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.' Guests expected to attend include the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Hailey Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker and Timothee Chalamet. Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham are hosting while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview stars on the red carpet.
